Our current principles
KAAL Shield currently has no advertising-based business model. OpenKAAL does not intend to sell users' contact books, and the product is designed to avoid unnecessary uploading of contacts. Call-control decisions are intended to happen locally on the device where possible.
Contacts and call history
The network architecture is not designed around uploading an entire address book, uploading an entire call history, or secretly building a social/contact graph. If future network features require server data, the goal is to collect only what is needed for that explicit feature.
KAAL Alert
KAAL Alert is intended as lightweight communication between connected KAAL Shield users. Network delivery features are still under development. The server foundation keeps KAAL Alert communication logically separate from future community threat-intelligence data.
Future unwanted-call reporting
Future community protection is intended to use explicit number reports and reputation data. It is not intended to infer threat relationships from private contact books or private call histories. A production threat database is not claimed to exist today.
Private Call
Private Call concerns KAAL/local call-history presentation where supported. It does not make a carrier call anonymous, invisible to a network operator, or untraceable.
Security and changes
As KAAL Shield and OpenKAAL Network features evolve, this privacy page should be updated to describe the actual production behavior. Claims should be verified against the released app and deployed server before publication.
